We are excited to welcome Tonia Bales, BSN, CRNA to TANA’s 89th Annual Meeting.
Millions have heard the podcast. Millions more watched the Netflix series. Almost none of them heard it from the CRNA who was married to him.
For years, Tonia Bales, BSN, CRNA was the wife of John Meehan — the nurse anesthetist the world came to know as Dirty John. She practiced as a nurse anesthetist the entire time. She did not see it coming. And that, she will tell you, is exactly the point.
On Saturday, October 17, at 8:30 AM, TANA is excited to welcome Tania to share her story: the diversion, the decade of lies, the boards of nursing and pharmacy, the hospitals that quietly let him move on rather than report him, and the law enforcement agencies across multiple states whose work ended in arrests and incarcerations. It is a case study in every gap our profession still has around the impaired provider, told from inside the marriage.

Some TANA members may already know Tonia’s name. She practiced with Murfreesboro Anesthesia Group in the late ‘90’s and served as a clinical instructor for MTSA students at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She is coming back to Tennessee with the story she could not tell then.
