TANA 82nd Annual Convention

October 18 - October 20

The 82nd Annual Meeting will be held October 18-20, 2019 at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Convention Center in Murfreesboro, TN.

Our theme for this year’s meeting, "I'll Be There for You!", will focus on the fact that as CRNAs we are there for our patients each and every day, making a difference in our healthcare communities, but also TANA is there for YOU, following TANA's Mission to: Protect, Advocate, Serve and Support its members (PASS)!

The meeting will begin with a full day on Friday the 18th (7 hrs.), full day on Saturday the 19th (8 hrs.), and Sunday the 20th (5hrs.).

My Life With "Dirty John": A Story of Addiction, Deception and Survival- Tonia Bales, CRNA, was once married to the infamous and disgeaced CRNA, John Meehan, aka "Dirty John." Included will be a summary of the actions of multiple boards of nursing, pharmacy boards, and various hospital's actions and in some cases inactions and the interventions of multiple law enforcement agencies spanning multiple states and resulting in several arrests and incarcerations.  

A series of articles featured in the Los Angeles Times about his exploits spawned a podcast and then a hit Bavo TV show starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana.  Tonia will be speaking on Saturday, October 19 about her personal experience with Dirty John, and how his exploit endangered patients and family.                       

Chronic Pain Guidelines & Controlled Substance Prescribing Practices- This course provides two contact hours REQUIRED for any CRNA in TN with a Certificate of Fitness- Michael Baron, MD, MPH. Mitchell Mutter, MD, Linda Johnson, DNP, and Special Agent Thomas Farmer. This will be presented on Friday, October 18 from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

The Student Poster Session will be back once again!   Students from Tennessee’s Nurse Anesthesia programs, plus students in DNP/DNAP cohort, will present case study posters and posters reflecting  DNP projects. Posters will be in the exhibit hall from Friday morning through Saturday Afternoon.  Please stop by and talk to the students or CRNA’s and find out about their interesting cases and projects.

TANA CALL for Posters!

Students, this year you will have the ability to have your Poster that you present at the TANA Convention judged for prizes and recognition!

This is voluntary, and if you are interested in having your poster entered for the judging and cash prizes, you need to do the following:

A.) Put a sentence on your abstract that you are entering the competition. B.) You will need to stand with your poster and have a 1-2 minute presentation prepared on your topic at the 9:30 Presentation Time on Friday, October 18th.

TANA is sponsoring a symposium for the dissemination and discussion of the scholarly work of SRNAs, CRNAs, and anesthesia Faculty, in the state of Tennessee. You are invited to submit a poster that advances scientific and clinical understanding, and presents or advances new ideas on any topic in the entire spectrum of the art and science of Nurse Anesthesia.

TANA Poster instructions and deadline information. Due Date is September 15th.

You may still display a poster even if you do not wish to have your posters judged, but we still require an Abstract, and you can be included in the Abstract Symposium Presentation Booklet.
