TANA invites SRNAs, CRNAs, and anesthesia faculty to submit posters showcasing original scholarly work, research, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative ideas that advance the science and practice of nurse anesthesia.
The poster session, held in conjunction with the TANA 89th Annual Meeting (October 16-18, 2026), will provide a collegial environment for sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas, and fostering professional collaboration among nurse anesthesia professionals and educators across Tennessee.
Posters will be presented during informal exhibition sessions, providing authors with an opportunity to showcase and discuss ongoing and completed projects. SRNAs are especially encouraged to submit posters for presentation. These sessions foster a collegial environment where CRNAs, SRNAs, and faculty can exchange ideas, share scholarly work, strengthen professional relationships, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
General Requirements
Submitted posters must present original work. Collaborative and group projects are welcome. At least one author must be an SRNA, CRNA, or anesthesia faculty member practicing or affiliated within the state of Tennessee. Poster titles should be concise and descriptive while capturing the audience’s interest.
Authors
Authors are strongly encouraged to attend the poster session to discuss their work and engage with attendees. Presenters should be prepared to discuss their project, answer questions, and network with colleagues.
Size
- SRNAs: Poster size must meet your school requirements; our preference is 48” x 36” (4’x3’)
- CRNAs: 48 x 36 inches
Abstract Requirements
Include your name or names, institution, and email address in the upper-left corner of the first page. Abstracts must be written in complete sentences; bullet points are not permitted. All acronyms must be defined upon first use.
Abstracts are limited to one page, single-spaced.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Symposium Abstract Booklet. Publication in this booklet does not constitute a professional or peer-reviewed publication.
To be eligible for poster presentation judging, OR inclusion in the Symposium Abstract Booklet, abstracts must be submitted by September 3, 2026. Abstracts received after this deadline may not be included in printed materials.
For those interested in displaying a poster, but NOT interested in having it judged or to be in the Symposium Abstract Booklet, the abstract must be submitted by September 13, 2026. Those abstracts not submitted by this date, cannot have posters displayed in the exhibit hall.
Setup and Take Down
Poster setup will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16. Posters must remain on display throughout the conference and will be available for viewing during scheduled breaks on Friday and Saturday morning.
Poster removal may begin after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. Early removal of posters is discouraged to ensure all attendees have the opportunity to view the presentations.
Poster Competition and Awards
Participation in the poster competition is voluntary. Posters may be presented without being entered for judging.
To be eligible for competition, authors must:
- Indicate on the abstract that the poster is being submitted for judging.
- Include one measurable learning objective on the abstract entry form (see samples of simple learning objectives).
- Attend the assigned judging session and provide a 1–2-minute presentation of the project.
Judging sessions will be scheduled on Friday, October 16, between 2:45 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Authors will be notified of their specific judging time in advance.
Awards
- First Place: $200 and a certificate
- Second Place: $150 and a certificate
- Third Place: $100 and a certificate
