Upcoming Accreditation Reviews of Established and New Nurse Anesthesia Programs
A list that identifies nurse anesthesia educational programs scheduled for onsite accreditation visits in 2026 is available on the COA website. This list identifies both existing programs undergoing continued accreditation and new programs seeking initial accreditation. The COA provides this table as public notice for anyone interested in submitting third-party comments.
If you wish to comment, please email the Chief Executive Officer of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs at [email protected]. Anyone submitting comments should first request the Council’s written procedures. Comments should be sent well before the scheduled onsite visit. Additionally, anyone wishing to provide an oral or written statement must notify the Council at least 60 days before the COA meeting where the program will be reviewed. Voluntary Program Closures
- The Otterbein University OhioHealth Grant Medical Center Nurse Anesthesia Program, Westerville, OH, will voluntarily close on June 1, 2026.
- The Allegheny School of Anesthesia, Pittsburgh, PA, will voluntarily close on Aug. 31, 2026
- The Frank J. Tornetta School of Anesthesia at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery/La Salle University School of Nursing, Norristown, PA, will voluntarily close on Dec. 31, 2026.
Open Council Positions
The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) is seeking nominations for a CRNA Practitioner and a CRNA Educator Director. Candidates must be available to attend three-day COA meetings normally held in January, May, and October, in addition to an orientation meeting in October. Elections will be held at the COA’s Spring 2026 meeting. Position criteria and application requirements are posted on the “Openings for new COA Directors” page on the COA’s website. Applications will be accepted through April 17, 2026.
