Julie Linton, DNAP, CRNA, APRN

Dr. Julie Linton is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist and business owner in
Martinsburg, WV. She is a Past President of the West Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists
and a former State Peer Advisor for WV. Julie brings a depth of knowledge on the issue of
substance use disorder into her practice as a CRNA and her service to her state and national
associations as she lectures across the country on the topic. She hopes to bridge the gap
between professionals struggling with SUD and their CRNA colleagues – destigmatizing the
disease of addiction and making it easier for everyone to seek and maintain recovery. Julie is
also passionate about helping healthcare providers seek healthy habits that can be
implemented into their busy lives. In addition, Dr. Linton consults with state associations of
nurse anesthesiology on board governance and leadership.

Dr. Linton’s Sessions include:

Drugs of Abuse
Our role as anesthesia providers is to understand the mechanism of action of the medications we give
our patients. What if we used this same approach to evaluate the substances our patients use that are
routinely misused or abused? This lecture looks at the mechanism of action for several medications as
well as treatment for substance use disorder and management of medication assisted therapy for day of
surgery.

Leadership from the Start
AS CRNAs we are taught to be leaders at the head of the bed, but sometimes our education is lacking
when it comes to leadership outside of the OR. In this lecture we will discuss the personal qualities
leaders should possess, ways to get involved in leadership, and explore several elements of successful
leadership.
