Cynthia Dabney, PhD, DNP, CRNA, is an Associate Professor in the University of South Florida Nurse Anesthesiology Program and maintains an active clinical practice at Tampa General Hospital. She began her nursing career after earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from Gulf Coast State College and later completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Florida State University. After several years as a surgical ICU nurse, she earned a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from The Gooding Institute of Nurse Anesthesia and practiced as a CRNA in Memphis, Tennessee, providing anesthesia care across a wide range of specialties, including trauma, obstetrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and general surgery. Dr. Dabney earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice and PhD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she previously served as Assistant Program Director and Director of Didactic Education. Her scholarly interests include faculty development, simulation-based education, CRNA practice models, and perioperative patient safety.
