Cloth Masks Compared with Medical Masks

The AANA shared a study in BMJ Open looked at the efficacy of cloth masks compared to medical masks in hospital healthcare workers. The results caution against the use of cloth masks in healthcare workers due to moisture retention, reuse, and poor filtration, which could result in increased risk of infection. The study’s authors acknowledge that while further research is needed, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for healthcare workers in high-risk situations.
