On October 27, the AANA joined 29 organizations in a letter from the Equitable Maternal Health Coalition (EMHC) to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer supporting inclusion of maternal investments in the House of Representatives proposed Build Back Better package to advance racial equity.
The EMHC represents healthcare providers, public health professionals, researchers, community-based organizations, non-profits, health insurance providers, hospitals, maternal and infant health advocates, and other key stakeholders. The letter specifically supports an extension of Medicaid coverage for one full year postpartum and for centering racial equity in maternal health services through the Black Maternal Health Momnibus.
